Job summary
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is undergoing significant investment and expansion, creating an opportunity to appoint 5 Trust Doctors (StR Lower) in Medicine. These 1-year posts will rotate through 3 4 month placements, within the Medical Specialties (e.g. Acute Med Geriatrics, Thoracic medicine, Neurology, Stroke, Hepatology, Cardiology, Oncology, Haematology etc). Please note although these vacancies are not recognised for training purposes, the successful candidates will be given the same opportunities as the other trainees working on the Medical Rota, and will aim to support development opportunities for those seeking to apply for Internal Medicine Training (IMT) Stage 1 next year. We anticipate that the successful candidates will be working towards Part 1 Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and would be happy to support them gaining this qualification.

The post holders are expected to deliver unscheduled care to a high quality, within our Acute Medical Unit and our specialty medical wards.
Ward based care is provided by comprehensive medical specialties including a General Internal Medicine team that run the inpatient medical wards.
The post holders will have at least Foundation level 2 competencies and NHS experience and will be expected to deliver care to the standard of an Internal Medicine Training (IMT) stage 1 equivalent. The roles are well supported, with on-site consultant cover from 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
The post holders would be expected to participate in departmental teaching and Quality Improvement Projects / clinical audit. There is a weekly Medical Grand Round in the Post Graduate Centre providing an opportunity for interdepartmental and inter-generational learning.
