If so an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care Team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
The Enhanced Care Support Worker is responsible for providing therapeutic and person-centred care to support our patients and their families.
This rewarding position of Enhanced Care Support Worker will develop and evolve with our collaborative team working approach to ensure we meet the advancing demand of patients with additional needs.
As part of the role, you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with high-risk patients, support several patients on a baywatch or provide general support to clinical areas. This could be in any ward or department across the Derriford Hospital site, working with both adults and children.
You will be required to work shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Based within a core team, you will be assigned to a patient/s for the shift and therefore will work across all wards and departments within our Trust, assisting in patient care under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
Interviews for this position will be face to face, no other methods will be offered.

Demonstrate caring, compassionate, professional behaviour, fostering trust and confidence in the service for people in your care.
Build and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and gather information to support a holistic, multidisciplinary formulation and care plan, recognising and responding appropriately to the emotional needs of patients whilst maintaining effective professional boundaries.
Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals regarding all aspects of care and contribute to the implementation and review of care plans in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Contributing to risk assessment and risk management planning by identifying and reporting issues of concern to the nurse in charge, ETOC Leads or Site Managers.
To participate in the management of challenging or disturbed behaviour in line with trust policies and SOPs, utilising distraction, diversion and de-escalation techniques as required.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
