Job summary
We are seeking a proactive, dynamic, and experienced nurse manager to lead our Gynaecology Outpatient Services. The successful candidate will support our MDT in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of outpatient services and clinics. You will be responsible for operational management, clinical leadership, service development, and staff support. The post holder will lead the team in delivering high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients accessing Gynaecology outpatient services, ensuring a safe environment and providing a high level of information and support to patients. The postholder will demonstrate excellent leadership skills and support the delivery and development of safe, effective care through undertaking audits, benchmarking and quality improvement work. You will deputise for the Gynaecology matron in their absence.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
Provideclinical expertise and specialist advice to women accessing gynaecological outpatient services. Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, holistic nursing care that is current, effective, and aligned with Trust policies. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients undergoing assessments, investigations, and procedures. Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professional attitudes and behaviours.
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the gynaecology outpatient department. Provide strong, clear, and consistent leadership to both qualified and unqualified staff. Promote effective communication within the multidisciplinary team, patients, and relatives. Engage the team in developing a positive learning culture, ensuring staff are supported to develop their skills and knowledge in alignment with the appraisal process.
Support and participate in all aspects of clinical governance, including audits and quality assurance. Identify and implement initiatives to improve patient care and service delivery. Ensure compliance with current standards and legislation relevant to gynaecology services. Manage staffing, resources, and scheduling to ensure smooth service delivery. Contribute to strategic planning and development of outpatient services. Liaise with other departments and external partners to ensure integrated care pathways.
