We are delighted to be able to advertise band 5 posts for Pencarrow. If you are a qualified RN and interested in a career in critical care nursing and working with an awesome team of Neuro ICU nurses on our 10 bedded unit - then look no further! Pencarrow (Neuro ICU) is a great unit and we are looking for caring, passionate and enthusiastic nurses to join us - at work and socially!

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to care for a wide range of patients requiring multi-system support (Ventilation, MultiCitrate Filters, ICP monitors, and EVDs). We provide specialist care for trauma and neurosurgical patients with multitrauma, acute brain injuries, spinal injuries. Neuro is a great specialty, where the care you deliver really can make all the difference to our pts.

All successful candidates will benefit from an orientation and induction programme run by our established Education team. Staff follow an education pathway, using the Critical Care National Competency Framework. There will also be an opportunity to undertake a 60 credit Critical Care course in conjunction with the University of Plymouth.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care for level 1-3 patients within the critical care area, utilising a patient centred model of practice and all available resources to provide excellence in practice.

We also manage a wide range of General ICU patients when required offering a broad range of experiences as we are part of a larger 28 bedded critical care unit.

To provide clinical expertise and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Supervision and direction of junior nursing staff, healthcare assistants and learners.

To seek guidance when undertaking or assisting with unfamiliar practices or procedures
