Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time and a 30-hour band 6 rotational post across stroke and neurology. The post will rotate over the Acute Stroke Unit, the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, Neurosurgery/ICU, the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team (Livewell South West) and Plym Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (Livewell South West). The post holder will require experience in the speciality of Stroke & Neurology. We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and motivated individual who will rotate across the acute and community services.
The applicant will require excellent communication, time management skills and a flexible approach. You must have good inter-personal skills, work well in a multidisciplinary team environment, and be willing to support the Team Lead to deliver a specialist occupational therapy service.
As a therapy service we are committed to providing regular clinical and non-clinical support and supervision; conduct yearly appraisal; allocate time for Continued Professional Development (CPD) and involve all grades of staff in the In-Service Training programmes.
This post is part of an established 7-day working service; applicants must be able to take an active part on the 7-day working rota.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder is responsible for the provision of a quality OT service, under the direction of the Team Leader, ensuring high standards of clinical practice are provided.
Carrying out clinical duties including the occupational therapy assessment, treatment and management of stroke and neurological patients, as part of the MDT in inpatient settings and in the community.
Post holder assists the Team Leader in the day-to-day management of the wider Team, providing support, supervision and allocation of work to the Band 5 OTs, and Technical Instructors. The post holder will also undertake appraisal and clinical supervision of specified staff within the team.
The Post holder will have a delegated remit of Clinical Governance and teaching activities to undertake and develop within the team.

Patients seen present with a wide range of complex and highly complex stroke and neurological deficits with potentially long-term needs and disabilities.
