Job summary
The Ultrasound Department has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Ultrasound Imaging Care Assistant (ICA) (band 3) who will be supporting the team of ICAs within the Ultrasound service and deputising for the Ultrasound ICA Team Leader.
The Ultrasound service aims to deliver 1000 scans per week from rooms based in Derriford Hospital and other locations off site. We provide a service which extends into the evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
The Senior Ultrasound ICA will be expected to support the Team Leader in management of ICA team to support daily operational flow for inpatient and outpatient Ultrasound services, on site and off site. The post holder will be expected to be in departmental mainly during the weekdays, although there may be a need to work some weekends and bank holidays to support the service.
There should be cross cover between the Senior Ultrasound ICA and the Team Leader to be present at the daily morning huddle and link in appropriately with Imaging Production Board. The post holder is required to work closely with the Ultrasound team and the wider team in Imaging.
Flexible working patterns can be supported if they fit in with service needs. Weekend working is excepted.

Main duties of the job
o To act as Senior ICA in Ultrasound and assist the Ultrasound ICA Team Leader in providing support for the ICAs.o To deputise for the Ultrasound ICA Team Leader.o To provide a support service within the Ultrasound Department/Imaging Directorate by supervising and coordinating the ICAs to facilitate the throughput of patients attending the Ultrasound department so as to optimise the use of resources and to minimise delay.o To provide support and collaborate with for the wider ICA team in Imaging when required.o Proactively respond to the changing requirements of the service on a daily basis under the direction of the Ultrasound and service line management teams.o To provide leadership at daily huddles for Ultrasound ICA team.o To contribute to daily Imaging Production Board meetings.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
