Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Neonatal nurse to complement our Nursing Workforce. As a NICU we are a progressive level 3 service currently providing 14 IC / high dependency beds, 8 special care and 18 transitional care cot's, serving the population of Devon and Cornwall. As part of the SW ODN, we enjoy collaborative working with our regional colleagues, ensuring that we continue to deliver current evidence based neonatal care.

Our accomplished nursing establishment, ANNP team, Outreach Service and tier of support staff facilitate the delivery of highly specialised care in partnership with parents upholding the ethos of Family Integrated Care. We host the Peninsula Neonatal Transport Service which provides an expert retrieval service for infants born across the region. This highly specialised service also provides opportunity for experienced QIS staff to advance their clinical skills. We have an established Clinical Education team who provide a supportive and progressive environment with a strong commitment to preceptorship and continuing professional development. We expect all newly qualified nursing staff to undertake the Qualified in Speciality modules which are hosted by our trust in partnership with Plymouth University. We also offer exciting career development opportunities into Enhanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner roles via MSc pathways, in partnership with the University of Plymouth.

Main duties of the job

Band 6

The role is an opportunity for those who have consolidated their qualified in speciality training and looking to take the next steps in developing their leadership attributes.

You will be responsible for the day to day management and clinical leadership of the neonatal unit. Evidence of working at degree level and the desire to develop within a management role are essential. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills, an ability to inspire and support staff whilst acting as a professional role model.
