Job summary

To provide managerial and administrative support to the Service Line Manager and Service Line Director for the operational management of patient services in delivering of key clinical, activity and efficiency standards and financial targets.

To take responsibility and accountability for leading designated projects within the service lines and sub-specialities, as directed by the Service Line Cluster Manager.

To deputise for the Service Line Cluster Manager as and when required.

To provide direct line and some budgetary management for the supporting administrative staff for those patient pathways within the Trusts policy guidance.

Main duties of the job

The job role will require leadership and management for the supporting administrative staff, developing a flexible workforce to meet the ever changing needs of the service within a managed financial envelope.

The job role will deliver expertise with regards to access targets for the patient pathways, analysing demand and capacity to maximise use of resources and eliminate waste.

The job role will support the Service Line Cluster Manager in the delivery of a safe and efficient service across all specialties

Job responsibilities

Operational

  • Management responsibility for the day to day operational management of the ENT &Audiology Service line. This includes:
  • Ensuring all waiting lists/PTLs and data quality reports are managed as per Trust guidelines
  • Ensuring the consultant rota is up to date and accurate
  • Maintaining an overview of the junior doctor rotas offering advice and support to management and rota office team with regards to leave, sickness.
  • The timely and reasonable resolution of all theatre and outpatient issues using but not exhausted by emergencies, flexible session utilisation, leave, and sickness
  • To ensure all standard access targets are met for all specialties in elective inpatient , daycase, cancer, outpatient and diagnostics
  • Management of non-admitted RTT to maximise opportunities that reduce non-admitted backlog
  • Management of admitted RTT to maximise opportunities that reduce admitted backlog
  • To ensure the follow up outpatient backlog is reduced by undertaking validation, review administrative processes and continue to reduce new to follow up ratio by promoting new ways of working
  • To deputise for the Service Line Cluster Manager when required, reporting to the Service Line Directors and Care Group Manager for any operational or performance issues
  • To ensure data quality reports are checked and appropriate staff supported to amend where necessary
  • To examine the Service Line dashboard and work to ensure it is accurate and up to date prior to month end close
  • Work with the key personnel on dedicated service improvement projects with particular reference to access targets and efficiency markers
