Job summary

We are looking to appoint an StR lower doctor to work as part of the Clinical Oncology team within University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust. This post will provide comprehensive inpatient management on a general inpatient medical ward.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work closely with the Clinical Oncology Consultants assessing and reviewing patients who are either residing on an Oncology ward or on an outlying ward. This post will involve working as part of a cover stream which provides cover for the out of hours and on call rota

  • MB BS or equivalent

Desirable

  • ALS/ACLS or equivalent Studying towards Part 1 of higher qualification.

Experience

  • Completed pre-registration year
  • Experience of basic life support and resuscitation skills
  • Previous experience of a six- month post in the NHS

Desirable

  • Wide medical experience
  • Familiarity with the NHS

Ability

Essential

  • Competent in history taking and examination skills
  • Organisational and communication skills
  • Willing to seek timely assistance from senior colleagues when appropriate
  • Good oral and written presentation skills

Desirable

  • Evidence of understanding and application of knowledge
  • Interested in and understands principals of medical audit
  • Accepts responsibility and participation in the management of emergencies
  • Management skills.
