Peninsula Cancer Alliance

The Peninsula Cancer Alliance is developing a work plan which prioritises delivery of the recommendations within the LTP (Long Term Plan) for cancer.

The Cancer Alliance aims to strengthen collaborative working to:

  • Develop a unified vision for cancer services in the Peninsula and in accordance with the Cancer LTP.
  • Establish consistency of standards for pathway management, clinical protocols, and provision of cancer treatments.
  • Better manage diagnostic capacity to improve cancer waiting times.
  • Reduce costs through reducing duplication and variation.
  • Enhance patient experience.
  • Maximise research and training across the system.
  • Ensure meaningful engagement with the public and patients and other key partners on the development and their delivery of their plans.
  • Share learning.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

As a Project Manager you will deliver an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Peninsula Cancer Alliance to improve outcomes for patients.

The post holder will support the Alliance Manager and their team to ensure that their programmes are planned and managed effectively and will take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery. This is an exciting and dynamic portfolio role, which requires excellent management and leadership skills to deliver a transformational programme of work for patients in the Devon and Cornwall Population.

This requires a high calibre individual who can work autonomously in a stimulating and challenging environment to achieve outcomes efficiently.

The prospective candidate will be working collaboratively and in partnership with a wide stakeholder community including senior clinical and managerial leaders from Trusts across the Alliance, senior commissioners, public health & screening teams, specialised services and primary care, and external support agencies.

As part of this programme you will working to develop and deliver a whole system approach to planning aiming to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities in line with national and local cancer priorities.
