Store Supervisor - Pathology Issue Store

Job summary

  1. To work closely with Materials Management in the provision of pathology consumables to end users.
  2. On a daily basis run the activities of the Pathology Issue Store.
  3. Ensure continuous supply of consumables including sourcing alternative products and working with procurement to limit the impact of supply interruption
  4. Ensure stock control of consumables issued from the DCL store on level 7 and 5
  5. Process the DCL laboratory lab coats for laundry
  6. Use of Oracle to order and control stock of laboratory consumables.

Main duties of the job

  1. The post holder will ensure the operation of Pathology issue stores, including the stock control of consumables issued.
  2. The post holder will work closely with materials management to maintain stock levels
  3. The post holder will train staff to backfill absence and maintain the service
  4. The postholder will work with end users of Pathology Issue Store products to ensure continuous supply for patient testing
  5. Process orders and package stock items to be sent to end users through the courier service

To provide a service supplying pathology related consumables to community based users of pathology services.

Works closely with procurement and uses Oracle to place numerous orders for pathology.

Provides stock control and ordering for items across pathology, keeping stock items replenished and tidying store rooms.

Minimises impact on users when consumable supplies are interrupted, working with senior management and procurement to find alternatives.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE or relevant demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • Supervisory course
  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Previous demonstrable experience in a large clinical environment
  • Knowledge of all relevant Health & Safety legislation and its application to the Section
  • Experience of Stock control and ordering processes
  • Experience in the use of procurement IT systems

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Oracle or procurement ordering system
  • Knowledge of Materials Management - Genesis Stock Control or similar
  • Knowledge of blood and blood products

DISPOSITION / ATTITUDE / MOTIVATION

  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods
  • Required to handle large volumes of consumables up to a weight of 10Kg on a regular basis
