Job summary

We are welcoming applications only from qualified (or qualifying in Jan 2024) Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP's). We are a Children's Psychological Health and Wellbeing Team who are looking to welcome another CWP to our well established CWP service. We are based at the Child Development Centre in Plymouth and see children with neurodivergence such as Autism, ADHD, learning delay and behaviour that challenges in the context of dysregulation. Our team includes psychologists, a senior CWP and another full time equivalent CWP, psychology placement students and trainee clinical psychologists.

In this role, you will help to ensure that children and young people from the CDC are seen for emotional wellbeing support at an early stage. This is an established pathway within our team's offer and very valued part of the Child Development Centre. You will receive case management supervision and support from the experienced CWP within the team. There will be opportunities for individual face to face work (e.g. CBT), developing our group work offer, telephone/video work and community working to suit the needs of the children and young people that access our service.

Main duties of the job

The post involves provision of evidence-based interventions to children and young people with neurodivergence for example, Autism or ADHD at a Child Development Centre. Where appropriate to provide support for the work of other members of the multidisciplinary team and signpost families to appropriate support. Finally, to contribute where appropriate, to service development and consultation to the wider MDT.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

  • Receive regular case management supervision from established CWP/clinical psychologist within the team.
  • Prepare and present case load information for the psychology service/wider MDT on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the governance obligations of the CWP, supervisor and service are delivered.
  • Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in practice.
  • Engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competences and practice.

PROFESSIONAL

  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies, and keep up-to-date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the relevant departments.
  • Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisor and senior colleagues on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
  • Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
