Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as an X-Ray Rota Coordinator, contributing towards a large and diverse patient-centred service by delivering a timely, safe and robust radiographer rota and patient bookings diaries management.
The successful candidate will be able to gain an understanding of the wide range of the X-Ray Imaging service:
- Trauma imaging (Emergency Department)
- GP, Inpatient and Outpatient services (to include orthopaedic imaging)
- Theatre and Mobile Imaging
- Paediatrics
- Fluoroscopy,
- Cardiac Catheter labs
- Dental radiography
- Peripheral sites.
We have Assistant Practitioners and reporting radiographers in post, as well as enhanced clinical practitioners.
The department hosts undergraduate radiographers on placement from two local HEI's as well as training apprentice radiographers and Assistant Practitioners, so you will be expected to be actively involved in the rostering of learners. Education and training is at the heart of everything we do.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification
Main duties of the job
To manage the completion of X-Ray team rotas which ensures the seamless running of the X-Ray Modality Service.
To manage the annual leave of the X-Ray staff groups.
To have oversight of staffing levels across X-Ray staff groups, maintaining service provision during any planned or unplanned variation prioritising clinical urgency in accordance with Trust and Departmental policy, and managing the bookings diaries accordingly.

- Advance planning and construction of rotas for the Trust to ensure they are produced in a timely manner (i.e. available for publication minimum 6 weeks in advance).
- Revision of rotas across the Trust as required to allow shift swapping / leave requirements.
- Daily management applicable staffing levels to ensure staffing levels / minimum core numbers are maintained at all times.
- Daily management of cross cover of staff between teams over high periods of absence due to leave or sickness.
- Management of rotas to ensure cover for all necessary out of hours shifts in liaison with X-Ray Service senior team.
- Re-organisation of rota shifts to meet operational demands and clinical governance caused by unexpected absences.
- Manage the requirements of Annual Leave, study leave and sick leave for relevant staff groups.
- Manage the patient bookings diaries to dovetail with rostering staffing.
- Promotion of flexibility of staff and leave arrangements.
- Responsible for working with X-Ray Service senior team to contain operational risk whilst ensuring compliance with guidelines on working patterns and hours.
- Identification of posts to be advertised, supporting recruitment so the process is efficient and effective.
- Devise creative and innovative solutions to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring all patient services across the department are covered on a daily basis.
