PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Data Warehousing / Data & Server Management
- Developing and maintaining data warehouse and data lake solutions using SQL, ETL, and cloud technologies.
- To lead in the design and development of Data Marts which populate the Trusts federated Corporate Data Warehouse, providing a Single Source of the Fact.
- Oversee BAU processes, identifying opportunities for process optimization, and setting performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data warehousing solutions.
- To provide Data Quality assurance, for all data flows through the Corporate Data Warehouse, through regular and ad-hoc validation and audit.
- To ensure that all developments and changes are fully documented, and auditable and change control policies are adhered to.
- To advise on and lead in the development of robust processes across the Information & Data Solutions Teams in line with audit requirements.
- To liaise with external agencies, clinical users, & trust staff as required to support the development of the service to meet the needs of its users.
- To define & comply to standards in respect of database administration, ETL and data modelling, incorporating full documentation to support change control mechanisms and audit requirements.
- To be familiar with and adhere to the relevant Health & Safety and other organisational policies in force within UHP.
- To be up-to-date with Information Governance guidelines, in particular the information and data requirements.
- To perform continuous reviews and influence management and local Data teams on best practice for data transformation, data modelling and information reporting.
- To advise on best of breed highly complex technologies associated with efficient, robust and high quality data management and reporting
- To undertake other duties as designated by the Data Solutions Architect.
- To advise on the design, development & maintenance of the Corporate Data Warehouse which acts as the single platform for reporting via SQL Server data marts utilising the most appropriate technologies.
- To provide effective management of the SQL Servers to support the reporting requirements of the Trust. Including the understanding of IG issues pertaining to Personal Confidential Data (PCD).
- To perform regular analysis of the Corporate Data Warehouse to ensure efficiency through effective data transformation & indexing.
- To develop new methods for data transformation using the latest technology and methodologies.
- To manage the processes which ensure that all statutory dataset requirements and datasets to support statutory reporting requirements are met e.g. SUS/HES & SDCS.
- To develop PBR datasets for reporting via the Trusts Performance Information Team.
- To acquire and maintain an expert knowledge of the database structures within the SQL Server (& other RDBMS) systems in use within the Trust.
- To acquire and maintain an expert knowledge of SQL Server and its associated technologies.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The post holder will be required to communicate with staff across all levels and disciplines within the local health care community.
The post holder will be required to communicate within the Performance Information Team to ensure new projects, amendments and enhancements are properly designed to fit within the service infrastructure and to support the development of the service as a whole.
The post holder will be required to communicate on a technical level with stakeholders, external third party system suppliers, developers and NHS staff at all levels.
The post holder will be expected to attend meetings on behalf of the Data Solutions Team.

The job is specialised in terms of the technical capabilities of the post holder and the ability to develop skills and experience in the following would be considered core requisites to undertake the role:
Programming Languages & Systems

All Managers are responsible for
- Assessing risks and implementing the necessary actions to minimise these risks within their sphere of responsibility. They must also enable staff to attend the relevant statutory and essential training.
- Managing attendance in accordance with the Trusts Attendance Management Policy.
All Heads of Departments are responsible for
- Ensuring all necessary risk assessments are carried out within their division, Service Line or department in liaison with relevant sources of specialist support and expertise within the Trust. They must also ensure that the risk management process is completed appropriately.
