Job summary

We have a very exciting senior leadership opportunity that has opened within our Digital and Innovation Services team in Plymouth.

As Chief Digital Architect and innovation officer you will support the CIO in developing transformative business capabilities, developing short and long-term digital plans and strategies, linking and working with stakeholders at Trust and system level (vertically and horizontally) to ensure digital capabilities provide a strong foundation stone to new model of integrated care - making care safer and enabling citizens to become empowered and active participants in their healthcare.

The post holder will play a prominent role in organisational development and strategic leadership, business change, and championing new and transformational ways of working.

Main duties of the job

The Chief Digital Architect and Innovation Officer will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategy and vision to ensure that the Trust's Digital Strategy supports strategic transformation plans. This will include overseeing innovation functions that bring about new technology capabilities, these include the Software Development, Solutions Architect, System Integration, and Forms and Workflow Development teams. The post holder will be responsible for and developing the overall leadership of the Digital Innovation Team within the wider Digital & Innovations Services (D&I) team. This includes the ongoing development of the function and service model as new technologies become mainstream (from idea, to development, to support) The post holder will lead dynamic teams to ensure that the corporate D&I service provides support to the Trust. The role is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of software systems and supporting the planning of related change programmes to enable service transformation, thus maximising the benefits from investment and improving healthcare. The role will have autonomy to lead and manage the development and delivery of Digital Innovation Teams and strategies, programmes, and services. The role will also contribute to local, regional, and national strategies, programmes, and service management, taking a leading and active role where appropriate.

  • oDemonstrable experience of producing and presenting business cases for Digital investment, including examples of successfully gaining funding approval.
  • oSignificant demonstrable experience in driving and delivering digital Innovation at a senior level.

Desirable

  • oStrong proven knowledge and awareness of NHS architectural blueprints, frameworks, and interoperability standards (e.g., NHP, HL7, FHIR, CareConnect, Transfers of Care, Open API policy).
  • oProgramme/Project Management (MSP/PRINCE2 or equivalent informal). oChange Management Qualification/Accreditation
