Job summary
The Maternity Department at University Hospitals Plymouth is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated midwives with excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to women centred care to join the vulnerable families Midwifery team (Sycamore).
We provide maternity care for approximately 3700 service users and their babies every year and our large and diverse geographical footprint means that we care for families living in urban, semi-urban and rural locations.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will provide midwifery care to women with identified vulnerabilities and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period via a continuity of carer model.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
You will be assessing, planning, and implementing evidence-based care to women experiencing complex social situations and mental health difficulties including, but not limited to, substance misuse, domestic abuse, learning disability, and teenage pregnancy.
You will provide expert advice and support to midwives and other colleagues to enable all staff to offer high-quality, personalised care to vulnerable groups. Developing and maintaining collaborative inter-agency working, ensuring effective and timely communication both internally and externally will be central to your role. You will attend and represent health in multi-agency meetings and complete written reports as required for Childrens social care.
Participation in an on-call rota will be required for the provision of a 24hour continuity service.
