An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the band 6 team leaders on the Neuro/Trauma ICU at University Hospital Plymouth. The successful applicant will be a clinically skilled critical care nurse with experience of taking charge of a unit.
As a Jnr Sister and shift leader you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of the high standard of nursing care we are proud of. As a team leader you will be recognised as a positive, professional and motivating role model for junior colleagues whilst ensuring a supportive learning environment for continuing education.
On Pencarrow patients are admitted with multiple injuries, acute brain injuries, spinal injuries and require multi-system support. We also manage a wide range of General ICU patients offering a broad range of experiences. If you are highly motivated and have demonstrable experience as an ICU RN , we would like to hear from you. This will be a new and exciting challenge where you will have the opportunity to develop your management, leadership and clinical skills.
Our ICU team includes a range of specialist ICU nurses; including an education team, research team, rehab team and embedded Advanced Critical Care Practitioners.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification
Main duties of the job
To be recognised as a clinical expert within the critical care environment, co-ordinating the delivery of high standard nursing care following individual assessment of each patient and implementation of care plans, utilising all resources to provide excellence in practice.
To ensure that patients are always cared for in a safe environment, and provide expert clinical advice as needed. Ensure that relatives are offered the same high standard of care, in the form of information, advice and support as that can be expected by the patients
To act as deputy to the nominated senior sister on all aspects of management.
To be responsible for organising and leading teams of nursing staff within the critical care setting, acting as an exemplary senior nurse role model.
To be responsible for meeting the NMC requirements in line with the Code of Professional Conduct for their scope of responsibility
To work alongside Assistant Practitioners in ICU and provide supervision and support. To delegate care/tasks in keeping with their assessed competencies and within the remint of the AP Job description.
