Our accomplished nursing establishment, ANNP team, designated medical staff, Outreach Service and tier of support staff facilitate the delivery of highly specialised care in partnership with parents upholding the ethos of Family Integrated Care. We are the host for the SoNAR South Neonatal Transport service, which is an expert advice and retrieval for babies born across the region. This highly specialised service also provides opportunity for experienced QIS staff to advance their clinical skills.
As a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit we are a progressive level 3 service currently providing 14 IC / high dependency beds, 8 special care and 18 transitional care cot's, serving the population of Devon and Cornwall. As part of the South West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network, we enjoy collaborative working with our regional colleagues, ensuring that we continue to deliver current evidence based neonatal care.

Main duties of the job
Band 6 Clinical Educator/ Junior Sister
50% Clinical Junior Sister, 50% Clinical Educator
The role is 37.5 hours per week, part time hours could be explored if required (minimum 30 hours per week equivalent). Demonstrable experience of mentorship and proven evidence of supporting a variety of learners within the clinical environment is essential. Applicants will need to demonstrate their understanding of educational strategies, processes and related barriers within the clinical neonatal setting. This role requires the individual to lead educational clinical facilitation at the cotside and assist in the formal teaching of groups, utilising a wide range of educational tools and approaches. An ability to work independently and efficiently is necessary to meet the ever changing educational needs of the NICU, thus significant organisational skills and an ability to innovate and self-direct is required. This role requires ability to manage multifaceted staff issues thus excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. In addition to educational responsibilities this role has a day to day clinical management and leadership component thus high standards of clinical skills are required. An ability to inspire and support staff whilst acting as a professional role model is fundamental. Proven evidence of working at degree level and the desire to develop within a management role are essential.
