Main duties of the job
The Chronic Pain Management Service at University Hospitals Plymouth, Derriford Hospital, is a stand-alone service line within the Surgical Specialties Care Group. It is an Adult Highly Specialist Pain Management (tertiary) service (where spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pumps are commissioned by NHS England). It is a regional tertiary referral centre taking referrals from primary care, secondary care specialities, as well as other pain medicine consultants within the region.
The Chronic Pain Service seeks to appoint a further substantive consultant to their teams.
The post is for a full or part-time Consultant in Chronic Pain. This role is also open to working in Anaesthetics. Our Service Line management team can work with the individual to get the right balance across both services.There are no on call responsibilities with this post.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Support the delivery of a high-quality pain service meeting local and national targets
- Support the delivery of high-quality anaesthetic services if applicable
- Contribute significantly to the departmental teaching of the undergraduate medical students and anaesthetic trainees rotating through.
- Work flexibly dependent on the exigencies of the department
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary and inclusive team
- Assist in our determination to be a successful provider of a range of appropriate services to the local community.
