Due to our upcoming expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for band 5 nurses to join our team in our busy JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit. We are currently advertising for full and part time posts for permanent contract.
This is a nurse led unit and we have an opportunity for those looking for a new challenge in their nursing career. We offer a high standard of care and have linked support with a range of Clinicians and medical professionals. We are currently open from 08:00 until 18:30 Monday to Saturday . Endoscopy at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is a very busy, dynamic department, with a large team of highly motivated nurses. We see in excess of 15,000 patients annually across several specialities. The Endoscopy unit delivers highly specialized complex procedures to a large range of patients. These procedures include diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, Radio Frequency Ablation, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, Peg placements, Bowel Screening, EUS and ERCP, as well as inpatient procedures and emergency cases. Informal visits are welcomed.

Main duties of the job
As an Endoscopy Nurse, you will be expected to work alongside Clinicians, assisting them in endoscopic procedures. You will also work within our recovery rooms, as well as pre-assessing and admitting patients. This is a varied role with lots to learn. We have a strong Clinical Education Team and offer regular structured training. Endoscopy can be a physically demanding role and you may be expected to work with x-rays.
As an experienced communicator, you will be expected to provide an efficient and effective service, working as the patients advocate, and mindful at all times of the unit manager's vision. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of working in a highly demanding environment where patient focus is paramount.
- Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care following a patient centred model of practice and ensuring area of work runs smoothly and efficiently.
- To provide clinical expertise and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Supervision and direction of junior nursing staff, healthcare assistants and learners.
