Your primary function is to manage the IM&T Solutions Architecture Team who provide expertise in enterprise solutions architecture to aid University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust and associated partners in designing highly integrated clinical and business solutions architectures, options appraisals, and recommendations in support of current and future Trust strategy and business objectives.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
You and your team will act as a liaison between IM&T and the Trust to understand complex business and clinical processes, mapping these to potential solutions, articulating potential benefits and risks and contributing to strategic outline and full business cases.
To do so, you will develop in-depth knowledge of multiple complex and specialist systems and how they integrate through a process of discovery, process mapping and documentation that can be used, in conjunction with other stakeholders, to form opinions of future strategy and decisions.
You will have and will develop knowledge of national systems, APIs, integration standards and clinical terminologies such as HL7v2, FHIR, CareConnect and Snomed CT.
You will directly contribute to organisational decision making in relation to digital strategy and therefore you will have demonstrable experience of working at all levels of an organisation with strong evidence of influencing skills and relationship management.

- Support the Head of Enterprise Solutions Architecture and other key stakeholders such as the Chief Information Officer, Chief Technical Architect and Chief Support Officer in the development of digital strategy, strategic outline cases, outline business cases and full business cases.
- You will communicate regularly with clinicians, specialists, and other relevant staff, listening to and analysing their needs, and help them to agree clinical best practice standards, future workflows, and system optimisation.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and capture new organisational needs, developing clear and detailed process maps and business requirements that can be used to inform digital strategy.
- Work with the appropriate stakeholders to analyse, negotiate and facilitate agreement for change to high-impact or critical workflows and current working practices, whilst managing expectations and resolving conflicts when necessary.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of complex organisational processes and systems used in support of patient care.
- Analyse and evaluate complex business and clinical processes, identifying alternative options including assessment of process feasibility and articulation of process requirements.
- Evaluate, document, and propose solutions for large and/or complex business areas, supported by evidence, and to communicate these through effective briefings, reports, and presentations so that they may be understood by staff of varying technical ability and background.
- Handle complex analysis activities in often contentious situations to ensure common understanding of difficult and sometimes contentious ideas.

- Work closely with Other Team members, alongside the Transformation, Integration, , Software Development, Clinical Systems, Training and Performance Teams and organisational stakeholders on the architecting of integrated digital solutions that underpin place based care and integrated patient pathways.
- To produce proposals and detailed specifications of solutions which will enable the effective delivery of integrated care across teams, services and organisations in a manner which considers and reconciles the complex nature of the underlying clinical data and differences in how services manage patient care.
- To maintain and develop specialist knowledge of healthcare integration standards (e.g., HL7 v2, FHIR) and national NHS standards (e.g. Transfer of Care, GP Connect) and act as a Subject Matter Expert for Solutions Architecture in the field of integrated healthcare systems, NHS data definitions and clinical terminologies.
