Recovery Practitioner - Main Recovery

We would like to invite you to join our friendly team in the glorious West Country. Situated on the beautiful South West coast, Plymouth boasts many local Heritage sites and areas of 'outstanding natural interest'. At Plymouth Hospitals, we recognise that work is only a part of your life - and the Trust is ideally located for walking, cycling, climbing, sailing and many other indoor and outdoor pursuits. Plymouth also has good transport links to the rest of the UK and Europe via road, rail and sea.

Plymouth Hospitals is a large acute trust in the Southwest of England, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border and provides perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across the region. The hospital is a designated Trauma Centre and tertiary referral centre for Neurological and Cardiac patients. The trust is a teaching hospital with close links to the Peninsula Medical School and the University of Plymouth.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered RN/ODP to join our lovely teams. The successful candidate for the Recovery post must be an enthusiastic and positive individual, with a 'can do' attitude. All skills can be taught so no previous experience is required.

The teams currently cover 16 different surgical theatres as well as outside areas including IR, HDU and MRI. These areas cover all main surgical specialities as well as emergency/trauma surgery.

The post holder will be required to work in Main Recovery (MR) but there maybe a requirement to work in Postbridge (PB) Unit as service demand dictates, as well as work in partnership with other teams within the Theatre Central cluster. The Trust is a 24-hour trauma centre and successful applicants to the post will require a flexible approach to the rostering system and potentially would be expected to take part in an on-call rota. Even though the post is for night work there will be a requirement for the post holder to rotate onto days in order to keep their clinical skills relevant.

As a team we are dedicated to delivering high quality care for our patients and currently have an exciting and ongoing programme for improvement, which allows us to constantly review our practice and perioperative pathways.

For further information, an informal discussion about the role or to arrange a visit, please contact HODP Dave Pendleton 01752 433100 or Matron Sue Johnson via 01752 432776
