The closing date is 14 August 2025

Job summary

Are you looking for real career progression opportunities? Curious about medical terminology and clinical data? This role offers a unique opportunity to start as a Band 3 Trainee Clinical Coder and the potential to progress to aBand 5 Accredited Clinical Coder-- fully supported by structured training and development every step of the way.

As a Clinical Coder, you'll play a key role in transforming detailed clinical information from patient records into nationally recognised codes (ICD-10 and OPCS-4). These codes inform everything from hospital funding to service planning and patient care outcomes -- making your work essential to the NHS.

You don't need prior coding experience -- just a strong foundation of GCSEs (or equivalent), great attention to detail, excellent IT skills and a passion for learning. Some experience with hospital systems is a bonus, but what's more important is your commitment to accuracy, organisation, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

In return, we offer:

  • A full in-house training package with ongoing support

  • The chance to study for the National Clinical Coding Qualification

  • Opportunities to keep learning and developing

  • Flexible working options and access to excellent NHS staff benefits

If you're ready for a rewarding career that blends healthcare, data, and lifelong learning -- and you're excited by the idea of growing into a qualified professional in a critical NHS role -- we want to hear from you.

About us

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as 'outstanding' for care and our King's Mill Hospital as the only 'outstanding' NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.

Not all of our roles are eligible for visa sponsorship. To find out which roles are eligible, please refer to the shortage occupation list found here:
