Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Specialist Haematology Nurse

The closing date is 10 July 2025

Job summary

Are you a compassionate, driven nurse with a passion for haematology care? Join our team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Haematology Nurse Specialist and help us provide outstanding, patient-centred care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

We are seeking a Haematology Nurse Specialist to take a central role in our dynamic Haematology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). This is a pivotal position that involves working closely with medical and nursing colleagues to provide expert clinical support, education, and holistic care to patients with haematological conditions throughout their treatment journey.

You will have the opportunity to work across clinics and ward settings, helping to shape and enhance the haematology service we deliver to the local population.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will:

  • Act as a key worker for a caseload of patients, ensuring seamless, co-ordinated care.

  • Lead on patient assessment, care planning, and the delivery of timely, safe treatment.

  • Offer specialist advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals across the community.

  • Support patients emotionally and practically during key moments, including diagnosis and bad news consultations.

  • Advocate for patients, ensuring they are empowered and informed when making decisions about care and treatment.

  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement and uphold the Trust's values in all areas of practice.

About us

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as 'outstanding' for care and our King's Mill Hospital as the only 'outstanding' NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
