Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Planning & Business Continuity Officer (EPBCO) to join our Corporate Operations team.

The EPBCO will lead the Trust's Emergency Planning, Resilience, and Response (EPRR) function, ensuring that our Trust is fully compliant with NHS England Core Standards for Emergency Preparedness and that all sites and services meet high standards of safety and preparedness.

The ideal candidate will offer expert advice to senior leaders, ensuring comprehensive readiness for incidents and emergencies, as well as maintaining robust business continuity and response plans.

By joining our team, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the continuity of essential healthcare services and enhancing the resilience of our Trust. You'll have the opportunity to work with senior leaders, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure our organisation is well-prepared to respond to emergencies.   • A good understanding of emergency planning and preparedness
  • Familiar with a variety of information and communications tools to effectively relay key information
  • Working knowledge of: NHS England Emergency Preparedness Framework 2015, NHS England's Core Standards for EPRR, Business Continuity Management, ISO 22301

Desirable

  • A good understanding of NHS structures and processes
  • Working knowledge of other NHS national emergency preparedness guidance

Qualifications/Academic/Craft/Professional

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or ability to demonstrate extensive expertise in this area of specialism.

Desirable

  • Specialist training in emergency planning and/or business continuity management
  • Has a willingness to become a member of the Emergency Planning Society and the Business Continuity Institute
  • Dip HEP qualification or for an equivalent sector

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability of communicate concisely and effectively
  • Excellent written and presentation skills; able to present complex information within agreed timescales
  • Able to analyse and summarise relevant elements of detailed reports and documents to a high level; demonstrating strategic and critical thinking skills
  • To work flexibly around the needs of the organisation, including occasional working out of core hours

  • Recent experience of working in a comparable or relevant role
  • Experience of preparing clear and well laid out plans, reports, briefings and guidance for a variety of audiences
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Practical experience of integrated emergency management activities including: Risk assessment, Emergency planning, Business Continuity Management, Training, Practical exercises

  • Current UK driving licence
