Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacy Assistant? We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic pharmacy team at King's Mill Hospital. As a vital part of our Production team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the production and preparation of aseptic and pre-packed medications support patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Pharmacy colleagues in the Aseptic dispensing unit, Pre-packing unit and Quality Control.
  • Prepare aseptically dispensed medication for patients while working within Pharmaceutical Isolators in the Aseptic Dispensing Unit.
  • Pack batches of over labelled plus packed down medications in the Pre-Packing unit
  • Check unlicensed medication and batches of pre-packed medicines whilst working in Quality Control
  • Check and read settle plates whilst working in Quality Control.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • In-house training and experience for prescription interpretation, labelling and aseptic dispensing equivalent to NVQ level 3

Desirable

  • To possess knowledge of working in a sterile environment

Qualifications - Academic/Craft/Professional

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent
  • NVQ Pharmacy level 2 in pharmacy services

Further Training

Essential

  • In house training programmes including labelling, aseptic dispensing and distribution. Regular validation in aseptic technique
  • Training in the use of relevant computer programmes

Desirable

  • Manual handling training
  • Health and Safety training, including COSHH, fire and security

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of following procedures
  • Proven team member and ability to work alone
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • IT/keyboard skills

Desirable

  • Stock control
  • Filing/record keeping
  • Sterile environment
  • Good housekeeping skills

Contractual Requirements

  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Regular attendance during the required hours
  • Weekend and bank holiday working
