This is an exciting development opportunity for anyone interested in the field of medication safety. You will be part of a recently expanded team led by the Medication Safety Officer, responsible for leading on the medication safety agenda. The postholder will be offered full training and support in this role and as a department we encourage further education and conference attendance. The role, although based in pharmacy will have strong links to other departments and organisations both within thelocal area, regionally and nationally. Our team has recently expanded to include two senior technicians and so this is an exciting time to join the department.
Main duties of the job
This role requires a pharmacist who is keen to take responsibility and accountability for the development and monitoring of a range of medication safety parameters. Previous medication safety experience, although desirable, is not essential as full mentorship will be provided by the MSO. An enthusiasm for change and making a difference is one of the key requirements. The role will include elements of governance and safety work for example incident investigations, quality improvement projects, audit work, teaching and the implementation of national alerts as required. The post holder will also be responsible for the pharmacy governance agenda aimed at improving function and process within the department to ensure the safe and effective provision of medication to our patients.
There will be a ward based clinical element to the role and this can be negotiated based on previous experience and preferred clinical speciality. You will also be able to work a proportion of the role from home for example 20% for a full time candidate.
With a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, you will have highly developed clinical pharmacy skills. Opportunities will be available to further your education in leadership, medication safety and quality improvement methodology.
