Are you an experienced Principal Clinical Scientist, passionate about enhancing patient care through advanced Point of Care Testing (POCT) and Biochemistry services? We have an exciting full-time opportunity awaiting you!

As a Principal Clinical Scientist specialising in POCT, your pivotal role involves:

? Providing top-quality POCT services to clinical staff at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and its associated contracts.? Supporting the delivery and upkeep of UKAS accredited Point of Care Testing Service across all hospitals.? Acting as a stand-in for the Consultant Clinical Scientist POCT lead to ensure smooth operations.? Training and overseeing the POCT team under the guidance of the Consultant Clinical Scientist.? Actively engaging in delivering, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with Quality Management systems for POCT services.? Contributing to the Clinical Chemistry Clinical advisory service through Duty Biochemist rota and weekend/Bank Holiday cover.? Assisting the Head of Service in providing an exceptional, patient-centred clinical biochemistry service adhering to national standards.

Essential

  • Relevant theoretical/practical/scientific knowledge to underpin the technical aspect of a POCT service.
  • Able to lead on service development/delivery
  • Able to provide leadership to small teams within the Department and provide leadership on a wider scale
  • Familiar with the requirements of ISO 15189 and ISO 22870
  • Able to conduct audit of services and take corrective action
  • Able to advise senior medical staff, nursing staff and other health professionals on investigations and interpretation of biochemical results in complex situations
