Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the team of midwives responsible for overseeing the National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. The screening team is well-established and dedicated to ensuring that women and babies receive the best care.

The midwife will be a joint lead for implementing best practices across the screening programmes, working alongside midwifery, support workers, obstetric and pediatric consultant colleagues, and external agencies. You will provide professional leadership and expert advice. The role will be varied, involving a combination of office-based work and clinical care. You will also be required to undertake teaching, develop and implement new care pathways following national recommendations, engage in failsafe procedures, write reports, and handle general day-to-day office duties. Clinically, you will need to attend to women who receive positive results in the antenatal programmes and be responsible for arranging their care pathways. You will also be responsible for the care and arrangements for women choosing to terminate their pregnancy. As an individual, you will need to be highly organized, non-judgmental, and demonstrate a caring approach to women and babies.
