Job summary
We are looking to recruit a confident, dynamic, highly motivated clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to cover an anticipated period of maternity leave for the current post-holder (8 months).
The Pharmacy Department is committed to the strategy of developing and growing its own workforce. The individual will join the team who co-ordinate the education and training programme for all pharmacy staff, ensuring they undertake the appropriate induction and relevant maintenance of competence on an ongoing basis. The post is ideal for those who want to use their clinical skills daily and have a strong interest in developing staff. It is an excellent opportunity to further develop both clinical and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The post is split 50:50 between the provision of clinical duties and staff development.You will work alongside the lead pharmacist for education and training.
- Assisting the planning and delivery of the Trainee Pharmacist Foundation programme at the Trust.
- Developing newly qualified pharmacists undertaking the Medicines Management Diploma.
- Acting as a professional role model and mentor in clinical pharmacy practice to trainees and newly qualified pharmacists / technicians.
- Effectively contributing to the training of other pharmacy staff and health care professionals.
The post holder will assist the divisional lead pharmacists in delivering a pharmacy service to acute medical patients. You will have a vital role assessing patients' drug therapy, recommending optimal treatment, monitoring effectiveness of treatment, and acting as the ward-based focus for medicines advice for doctors, nurses, and patients.
Previous experience in staff development is desirable but not essential as full support and training will be provided. You should have qualified hospital pharmacist experience, excellent communication skills and hold, or be expecting to complete within the next few months a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
This person would be expected to support late night, weekend, and bank holiday working.
