Job summary
Are you looking to broaden your Occupational Therapy skills through a practice development secondment at Sherwood Forest Hospitals?
The successful candidate will work within the Kings Mill Hospital Therapy management team to lead the development of the OT workforce. This will include liaising with universities and arranging student placements, supporting the newly qualified OT workforce, and facilitating the service development of OT at SFH.
To facilitate ongoing personal, professional, and practice development through the design and delivery of high-quality training, education, and development programs that support the delivery of high-quality, clinically effective healthcare.
To provide leadership, advice, and support, fostering a learning culture that values high-quality patient care.
To manage the band 5 rotation (including the preceptorship period), ensuring a breadth of experience across various specialties and opportunities for personal and professional development.
Fulfil the role of practice placement coordinator, ensuring that senior occupational therapists supervise students on behalf of the occupational therapy service.

- A substantial, broad clinical knowledge around the core medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions in the 'acute' environment of a District General Hospital, and skilled in applying occupational therapy frameworks
- Modernisation Agenda for the NHS re new ways of working

- BSc/diploma in occupational therapy
- Practice placement educator/APPLE accredited
- Registered with the HPC
- Member of Professional body
- Post registration qualification or training relevant to specialty

- ECDL or part ECDL, particularly the management of spreadsheets and/or databases and PowerPoint

- Substantial post graduate clinical experience, most recently working as a senior therapist which includes leadership and management experience
- Proven practical experience teaching small groups and multi-professional teams
- Can lead change and is able to demonstrate implementation of new ways of working within the team
- Formal teaching to large groups within and outside the service
- Proven experience of being an appraissor and supervisor of clinical staff
- Recruitment and selection of staff
