Job summary

We have an opportunity to join our expanding Respiratory and Sleep Physiology Team. As part of this busy and dynamic team you will be required to work effectively and efficiently both alone and as part of team.

You must have the ability to organize and prioritize your own workload and work flexibly in line with changes in clinical demands across both of our hospital sites, King's Mill and Newark.

As a service we provide a wide range of respiratory and sleep diagnostic investigations along with initiation and monitoring of treatment for sleep disordered breathing.

Main duties of the job

The role of a Senior Respiratory & Sleep Physiology Assistant incorporates performing routine and specialised respiratory diagnostic tests and CPAP therapy reviews at both King's Mill Hospital and Newark Hospital sites.

Preparation of sleep diagnostic equipment and downloading of sleep study data.

Contribution to training of students, trainees, and medical colleagues. In addition to general organisation and coordination tasks such as stock control, equipment monitoring and maintaining appropriate records and documentation.

Essential

  • Relevant theoretical/practical/technical knowledge to underpin the investigative procedures undertaken within the department

Qualifications Academic/ Craft/ Professional

Essential

  • Spirometry certificate (ARTP)
  • NVQ Level 3 Health (General Healthcare Support) or equivalent
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Basic Life Support
  • Competencies acquired in: Venepuncture, Reversibility studies, Capillary Blood Gases, Walk tests, Lung Function preparation, CPAP annual reviews

Desirable

  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
  • Immediate Life Support
