Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and positive individual who has the ability to work as a phlebotomist, to enhance our busy Phlebotomy team.
You will need to be a strong team player with good organisational skills but also be able to deal with the pressure of lone working.
Applicants must have good basic numeracy and literacy skills and proven knowledge of Health & Safety issues. You will possess excellent communication skills, be able to deal with patients and staff with tact and diplomacy and be able to work in a busy environment.
You will be part of a team providing a valuable support function for the entire hospital and GP requests, collecting blood samples from inpatients, outpatients and domiciliary visits. This will require high levels of concentration and attention to detail are required.
This role involves carrying, walking as well as driving. The ideal candidate needs to be motivated and offer enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to our practice team.
You should have a pleasant manner and a clean driving license.
The working hours will be spread over 7 days a week, inclusive of Weekends and Bank Holidays and can be discussed further at interview.
Flexibility around the needs of the service is expected.

Main duties of the job
- To obtain blood samples from patients within Kings Mill and the surrounding community.
- Undertake a course of in-service training to successfully become a competent practitioner.
- Responsible for keeping work areas clean & tidy. Including appropriate disinfection of work areas.
- Responsible for reporting adverse incidents, errors and equipment malfunction appropriately.
- To undertake any other duties which may be regarded as within the nature of the role, responsibilities and grade of the post defined: subject to the proviso appropriate training is given.
- Participate in, and meet agreed objectives identified in the departmental appraisal scheme.
