Job Summary
This advanced role will provide expert clinical care to patients requiring level 1-3 care both in Intensive care and Trust wide. The role involves extensive training according to the National Competency Framework for Advanced Critical Care Practitioners to perform advanced clinical skills across critical care services at King's.
Training
The employee will undertake and successfully complete an approved PGDip course (including advanced clinical assessment and independent non-medical prescribing) during the first 2 years of this employment. Candidates will be expected to complete the remaining credits for a full MSc in the first year of qualified practice.
Extension to the training period for up to 1 year will be made if the ACCP requires further training due to mitigating circumstances; such extension will be entirely at the discretion of the Trust and the University.
If the trainee is removed from any of the required courses by the university then they will cease to be employed as a trainee ACCP and their employment will be terminated with appropriate legal notice
Main duties of the job
Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs) work as part of a consultant lead multi-professional critical care service at King's. They are responsible on a day-to-day basis to the on call consultant intensivist responsible for the patient.
ACCPs are responsible for the assessment and treatment of critical care patients, both inside and outside the ICU. ACCPs perform invasive clinical skills and are expected to input to education and research within their department.
