Job summary
The Reporting Development Manager will work as a key member of the BIU management team to efficiently manage and develop the Corporate and Performance Information reporting functions, in line with the strategic objectives of King's College Hospital.
The role significantly contributes to the strategic direction of information management within the Trust with the core purpose to establish and continually enhance the suite of web-based, automated, and user-driven reports to support the developing needs of the Trust's corporate and clinical stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
The Reporting Development Manager will work as a key member of the BIU management team to efficiently manage and develop the Corporate and Performance Information reporting functions, in line with the strategic objectives of King's College Hospital.
The role significantly contributes to the strategic direction of information management within the Trust with the core purpose to establish and continually enhance the suite of web-based, automated, and user-driven reports to support the developing needs of the Trust's corporate and clinical stakeholders. The post holder will lead the visual interpretation of data and enhance the user experience of BI alongside the Operational Reporting Manager and Head of Business Intelligence.
They will also be required to develop close links with the Performance Systems team to appropriately triage and manage requests dependent upon new data sources. The post-holder will provide documentation, training, and support to ensure that the Information teams are able to be experts in all aspects of the Trust's and NHS information infrastructure.
The post holder will report directly to, and be required to deputise for, the Head of Business Intelligence as necessary.

- Strategic Direction:
- Work with other senior managers within the BIU to ensure that the Trusts corporate data warehouse and other internal performance reporting systems are developed and updated as necessary, consistent with both internal Trust and external/DH information requirements.
- Review and rationalize the regular reports published internally and build single-source dashboards for operational use.
- Own and deploy the minimum design standards for reporting outputs, inclusive of form and function.
- Assist in the integration of reporting into a central corporate suite with operational, information, workforce, and finance teams.
- Identify further tools for Business Intelligence that will enhance the BIU offering.
- Oversee the routes of communication for BI to maximise opportunities to signpost to published materials.
- Information Service:
- Manage the Senior Business Intelligence Analysts and Business Intelligence Analysts and develop the staff to support the Trusts performance management framework and associated information requirements.
- Provide a consultative service to all staff groups on the presentation and interpretation of data, ensuring all BIU outputs are supported by user journey style guides.
- Develop new and different uses of information resources through investigative analysis, taking a proactive approach to future developments and constant liaison with divisions and staff.
- Ensure divisions are provided with detailed performance and activity information for operational and strategic purposes via the monthly scorecard performance reports.
- Lead the design and delivery of visual, drill-to-detail reports enabling users to see trends and understand factors impacting performance.
- Support the other senior managers in BIU in reviewing areas of delivery concerning issues arising from external regulators (NHSI, CQC), commissioners, or auditors, national KPIs, and CQUINs.
- Work with service managers and clinical leads to ensure interpretation and use of data is informed through clearly presented reports and local subject matter expertise.
- Present reports effectively to multi-disciplinary teams and internal Trust Committees.
- Train the information team in the use of new data models, including training and advice on Business Intelligence tools implemented within the Trust, including Power BI.
- Jointly manage the Trusts Power BI reporting infrastructure, including the sign-off and publishing of content, app development and Fabric workspace management.
People Management and Performance
- Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices. Ensuring excellence is recognised and underperformance is addressed.
- Participate in regular performance appraisal meetings and ensure each member of the team has a clear set of objectives and development plans.
- Ensure the team is compliance with all statutory, mandatory training together with any professional training requirements, ensuring they are up to date and fully compliant.
- Manage team absences including sickness in line with Trust policy ensuring the appropriate return to work meetings occur, e-roster is updated and productivity is at keep to the highest possible level.
- Identify and fill any vacancies that arise within the team in line with the Trusts recruitment policy and process.
- Identify talent and support the internal talent management process in order attract and retain and succession plan for your people.
