Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Hepatology

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow to join our Paediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition team at King's College Hospital to start on 2nd March 2026. The successful candidate will form part of the Middle Grade Rota .

The Paediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Team Liver Service at King's College Hospital has been a supra-regional tertiary referral centre since 1986 and is the largest in the UK. Over 300 new patients with liver disease are seen each year. 2,000 patients are seen in outpatient clinic and approximately 50 liver transplants are performed each year. Academically, the Paediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Service is part of the Division of Hepatology and Transplantation, KCL School of Medicine.

This post offers excellent experience in a supra-regional service for paediatric hepatology, complex hepatobiliary surgery, fulminant liver failure, liver transplantation and small bowel transplantation. This unit provides a comprehensive service for all hepatobiliary disorders in infancy and childhood. The unit is the largest in the U.K and enjoys a national and international reputation for research. This post is suitable for someone who has or wants to have an experience of a paediatric subspecialty and tertiary care facilities.

Main duties of the job

Clinical:

To supervise Senior House Officers and to work with Specialist Registrars performing day to day care of the liver patients in Rays of Sunshine Ward, Day Case Unit and Outpatient clinics.

To maintain high quality communication both spoken and written with patients, parents, GP's and referring consultants

All aspects of documentation and care of paediatric hepatology inpatients.

Attendance on consultant led ward rounds.

OnCall middle grade resident rota 1 in 10

Teaching:

Assistance in conjunction with specialist registrars/consultants with the teaching of undergraduate medical students.

Research/Audit:

Involvement in the research interests of the department and audit will be encouraged.

Administration:

Responsible for the day to day management of the junior doctors.
