Job summary
The Band 3 Driver will support the delivery of mobile dental services to people experiencing homelessness across multiple outreach sites in Southeast London. The post-holder will be responsible for safely driving, positioning, and maintaining the mobile dental van, assisting the clinical team with operational set-up, and helping ensure a welcoming, accessible service for vulnerable individuals. The role combines driving, basic equipment support, and practical assistance to enable high-quality dental care in community settings. It is a full time post Monday - Friday.
Main duties of the job
- Safely drive the mobile dental van to multiple outreach sites daily.
- Park, manoeuvre, and position the vehicle appropriately and safely at each site.
- Return and park the van securely at King's College Hospital Business Park at the end of shifts.
- Transport the vehicle to maintenance appointments as required.
- Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks, including fuel levels, tyres, lights, and operational systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks and small-scale fixes (e.g., replacing bulbs, topping up fluids, monitoring tyre pressure).
Report faults, defects, or safety concerns promptly to line management and maintenance teams
- Set up the mobile dental van at each outreach location, ensuring it is clean, safe, functional, and ready for clinical use.
- Carry out end-of-day close-down procedures, including cleaning, waste disposal, and securing equipment.
Assist the dental team in transporting items safely between the mobile van and community sites, ensuring equipment is handled appropriately
