Job summary

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Deputy Chief Nurse who will be responsible for the Vulnerabilities Team (incorporating Safeguarding, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, social work and Violence Reduction), lead the development of the Patient Experience portfolio (including volunteering, chaplaincy, complaints PALS), End of Life Care leadership and support the trust digital portfolio with the Chief Nursing Information Officer. The post holder will also be responsible for managerial oversight of the Infection Control Team working with the Operational Director of Infection & Prevention Control.

The role will also support the Chief Nurse in providing strong quality governance leadership, and wider workforce reforms working with the other Deputy Chief Nurse and the Directors of Nursing/Midwifery and the Chief AHP, ensuring the Trust provides high quality services and fully compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job

Safeguarding/Vulnerabilities

Professionally lead the Vulnerabilities teams to ensure the delivery of regulatory compliance with safeguarding adults and children, including the learning disability team, violence reduction strategy and the Mental Health team

Provide clinical leadership and support to ensure the development and implementation of the Safeguarding Children's, Midwifery and Adults Strategies.

Represent the Trust at relevant safeguarding boards and ensure the Trust is engaged in partnership working with external safeguarding agencies

Patient Experience, Engagement and Partnership Working

To take a lead on Patient Experience and Engagement

Working with the Chief Nurse lead the Patient engagement team to develop and implement a robust patient experience and engagement strategy and ensure that this is meaningful for staff, patients and carers' alike

End of Life Care strategy development and to lead on the implementation and work across the group.

Policy Development

Provide expert advice on nursing policy, engaging with and influencing the national agenda

Review and develop a wide range of relevant policies in order that the Trust meets its strategic aims in compliance of both the legislative and national policy positions

Appraise, influence and communicate emerging national policy and guidance and where appropriate translating into practice.
