Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a new team lead Occupational Therapy post within the neonatal and paediatric therapy services at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post sits within an established multidisciplinary therapy team with the aim to provide a high quality, efficient and effective OT service into the neonatal Intensive Care Unit and acute paediatric wards, with a particular focus on providing highly specialist input into the neonatal ICU, neurodevelopmental follow-up service, paediatric neurorehabilitation, neuro-surgical and neuro-oncology inpatient caseloads. This post will also take a lead in developmental care and early intervention on the Neonatal Units at Denmark Hill and the PRUH sites. The Neonatal Units provide specialist medical and surgical services to premature and sick newborn infants requiring intensive care, high dependency care, special care and neurodevelopmental follow-up.

The post holder will take a lead in the provision of a specialist inpatient neonatal and paediatric occupational therapy service, and neonatal neurodevelopmental follow-up at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to a complex and diverse patient group.

Main duties of the job

  • To autonomously carry a designated clinical caseload including highly complex and specialist neonatal inpatients and complex and diverse inpatient paediatric patients, who present with a wide range of neurological and/or functional deficits.

  • To keep abreast with emerging evidence within the specialist fields of practice, and adapt assessment and management accordingly, particularly in line with any change in national guidance.
