Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Nurse Practitioner Reproductive and Sexual Health at Beckenham Beacon and other outreach locations in Bromley. This role involves assisting in the delivery of an expert specialist nursing service for people requiring Reproductive & Sexual Health Services. The post holder will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of STI treatment and contraception skills.
The post holder will be able to utilise advanced knowledge and skills and undertake procedures and practices such as bimanual examination, proctoscopy, contraceptive implant insertion and removal, IUD insertion and removal. You will have opportunity to work collaboratively with as other MDTs at Denmark Hill or Beckenham Beacon sites where care needs require.
This role involves supporting the role of the Matron in developing and implementing a strategic development plan for nursing across the service. The candidate would be expected to act up for ACP/Matron as required.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the delivery of an expert specialist nursing service for people requiring Reproductive & Sexual Health Services
To provide specialist nursing advice, clinical assessment and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through treatment in line with departmental guidelines
To be highly visible, accessible and approachable to staff, patients and the public to ensure that open and honest communication channels are created and sustained.
Use specialist knowledge and skills for assessing and interpreting complex issues across a wide variety of disciplines, providing advice in the development of nursing standards and guidelines for patient care.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of STI treatment and contraception To utilise advanced knowledge and skills and undertake procedures and practices such as bimanual examination, proctoscopy contraceptive implant insertion and removal, IUD insertion and removal and specialist follow up clinics.
Initiating and interpreting tests and investigations, on-going monitoring

Beckenham Beacon Sexual Health Clinic is a busy and dynamic service offering a wide range of services such as STI testing & treatments, contraception advise & provision, pregnancy testing and support, care after sexual assault, vaccinations and care to vulnerable and high-risk groups.

The post-holder is responsible for providing high standards of clinical nursing expertise to service users in the field of SRH/GUM across Kings Sexual Health Services, providing information and advice, counselling to help patients diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection to understand and manage their condition. The post holder will hold both qualifications in sexual health and contraception such as DFSRH diploma and STIF course with the addition of LoC SDI implant removal, fits and LoC IUD.
