Job summary
This key role within the International & Private Patient Service is responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service and ensuring a smooth, seamless patient journey from arrival at Guthrie through to discharge. As a member of the customer care team, the post holder will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including consultants, UK and international insurers, embassies, private hospitals, and diagnostic departments across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a pressurised and sensitive environment. In addition to administrative and reception duties, the post holder may support patients with compassionate and pastoral care needs, requiring tact, discretion, and a calm, mature approach.
They will also coordinate with departments such as the Day Surgery Unit and Main Theatres to manage all aspects of private patient bookings and communications. A strong customer-focused approach and the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure are essential to ensure a consistently high standard of service.
To receive and welcome all users of the private patient services in the King's Private Reception, in accordance with the agreed Customer Care Standards.
To register/update patients' details, ensuring that we have obtained, verified and scanned all photographic identification produced.
To ensure that all patients sign a respective 'Letter of Undertaking' in line with Trust policy and procedure. This is a prerequisite for all attendances and is in addition to verifying financial status of patients.
To alert the ward and the inpatient office of the patient's arrival.
To ensure that patients booked for admission are reminded to bring photo ID and proof of address, the day before their admission.
