Job summary
The Department of ENT at the Princess Royal University Hospital, a division of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for an enthusiastic and committed ENT surgeon to join us on a full time (40 hrs. + on-call) contract. The successful candidate should have a broad experience in all aspects of ENT. The post would suit a doctor with career aspirations to complete the CESR pathway.
The Job requires the post holder to be able to provide care in a relatively independent way, looking after outpatients, day case, inpatient and emergency cases. The appointee must be able to work with others in a team to provide comprehensive district general hospital type workload.
Main duties of the job
You will take part in outpatient clinics as directed - at both PRUH and Beckenham Beacon sites. The emergency on call rota will be part of your remit. Assistance in operating theatres (both inpatient and outpatient) will be programmed into your timetable. ENT emergencies may need operative management and you will be expected to arrange urgent theatre slots and ensure that patients are adequately prepared.
The Job requires the post holder to be able to provide care in a relatively independent way, looking after outpatients, day case, inpatient and emergency cases. The appointee must be able to work with others in a team to provide comprehensive district general hospital type workload, supporting junior doctors.
The Candidate will likely to work under guidance from all the ENT Consultants at some point during the working week. The precise timetable is subject to change to accommodate the department and the service.
In addition to this, you will be expected to prepare for, supervise, contribute to and attend the department's academic, audit, morbidity and mortality and other meetings.
There will be a 1:5 emergency on-call commitment in this post with prospective cover.
You will be responsible to the consultants in the department of ENT and primarily the clinical lead and the service manager.
