The Havens Children & Young Persons Assistant Psychologist

The closing date is 17 September 2025

Job summary

The Havens provides comprehensive forensic, medical and aftercare services to people who have experienced rape or sexual assault. We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to support the Children and Young People's Therapies Team in the provision of psychological care offered to clients accessing The Havens (specialist centre in London for people who have experienced rape or sexual assault).

In the opening paragraph of your supporting statement, please outline why you want to work within the area of sexual violence and also why you are interested in working with children and young people.

In particular, your main focus would be to support the Clinical Psychologists within the team by taking a lead on clinically-related administrative tasks, such as managing waiting lists, outcome measures databases and leading on audit and data activity for the service. You will be conducting brief video call and telephone screening assessments for clients' wishing to access individual therapy or psychology groups. You may also have the opportunity to join Clinical Psychologists conducting face to face assessments. There are also opportunities to work alongside Clinical Psychologists by co-facilitating psychoeducation and support groups for parents of children accessing The Havens.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also be expected to prepare course materials for workshops and groups and there will be regular opportunities to co-facilitate with a member of the team. Further tasks would include assisting in audits, clerical tasks, data entry and collating and analysing client feedback. A working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods is desirable as well as understanding Excel spreadsheets.

In addition, the post holder would be expected to support the team with research duties as required by the service and a solid understanding of qualitative/quantitative research methods would be advantageous. You will be asked to assist clinicians with administering and scoring psychological measures, as well as take a lead on managing the outcome measures database

A willingness to rise to the challenges presented by this area of work and a commitment to providing an excellent service to survivors of sexual assault are necessary.

The post holder is expected to have Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.
