This is an exciting opportunity to join the Epilepsy Team at Kings College Hospital caring for patients within the Regional epilepsy service as well as supporting the relatively new and expanding Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases Service (IMD) at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital.
As part of an established and collaborative team of epilepsy consultants, nurse specialists and pharmacists you will be responsible for the delivery of the highest quality of care and latest treatments to both regional and local patients through specialist clinics, inpatient care and MDT meetings. A focus of the team is the equitable and co-ordinated delivery of specialist care through a clinical network model.
You will also provide neurology expertise to the Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases Service at GSTT offering a neurometabolic clinic and participating in MDTs, liaison work and the on-call rota.
As well as specialist work the postholder will contribute to the general and acute neurology cover at Kings College Hospital.
The postholder will be primarily based at Kings College Hospital but will undertake the IMD element of the job plan at St Thomas' Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Kings College Hospital (job plan component)
Conduct weekly specialist epilepsy & general neurology outpatient clinics
Review inpatients admitted with complex epilepsy presentations & status epilepticus
Provide advice to other hospitals and neurologists across the Region on the investigation and management of complex patients
Participate in Complex Epilepsy & Epilepsy Surgery MDTs
Provide clinical advice & support to the nurse specialists & pharmacists
Participate in acute neurology rota
Support undergraduate and postgraduate training
