An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research & Development team for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the team.
The post-holder will provide high quality data management support and will be responsible for using and maintaining the EDGE database as well as using Microsoft Excel to produce and manipulate reports generated in EDGE and EPIC systems.
The maintenance of the quality and content of the data will be a key function of this post which will be achieved by regular error checking and accurately entering large amounts of data, ensuring that the data is stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act and relevant guidelines.
Research and Development (R&D) Data Assistant
To function as a member of the Research and Development team through provision of dedicated administrative support.
To act as the first point of contact for support and advice on how to use the EDGE database.
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all user accounts for the EDGE database.
Act as the first point of contact for resolving all data and EDGE queries this includes telephone and email contact.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to exercise initiative, prioritise conflicting work demands and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal departments and external agencies to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care.
You will be self-disciplined, professional and empathetic to all those with whom you come into contact. It is essential that you can prioritise your own workload, have excellent communication skills and work as part of a team, but also exercise initiative within set parameters.
EPIC Support

- To be the first point of contact for epic administrative enquiries.
- Be responsible for actioning requests to set up new studies.
- Manage access for new starters and leavers when not managed by individual research delivery Unit.
- To be responsible for arranging access for research monitors, for areas where this responsibility is not devolved to the Research Delivery Units.
- To have systems in place for escalating queries to appropriate escalation points.
- To undertake any other EPIC administrative duties.

To use Microsoft Excel in identifying data queries and being able to action these in the EDGE database.
To assist in providing advice and regular training on data management to a range of staff groups within the Trust.
Responsible for modifying and validating the databases and to support any development work. Maintain databases and ensure their security and compliance with the data protection act.

Assist with advice to the department staff on the preferred way in which data collection should be undertaken in accordance with policies.

Liaise with staff locally and nationally to create appropriate data collection methods and provide reports.
Identify and recommend changes to procedures within the service which will improve the quality of service to patients.
Assist with Departmental duties as directed by line manager and R&D managers.
To support audit and survey work on behalf of the department.
