Job summary
The Surgical Junior Research Fellow will be exposed to a wide variety of advanced surgical procedures, in a busy tertiary hospital and offers numerous opportunities to develop important research questions.
During the year the main focus of the Surgical Research Fellow will be to conduct clinical studies, participate in the collection of clinical research data and undertake laboratory-based work. Publication of research material and presentations at National and International conferences is expected.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to conduct clinical research under the direction of Prof Ameet Patel.
The goal will be to present papers at meetings such as the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery. Subsequent manuscripts that will be published in peer reviewed journals are expected.
Attendance at a minimum of one major meeting per year is mandatory, but the fellow may present his or her work at as many meetings as abstracts are accepted.
