An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Physician to join the Neurosciences Department at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a forward thinking and energetic physician to be part of the team delivering hyperacute stroke services and transient ischaemic attack services on the Denmark Hill (DH) site.
The Stroke service at Denmark Hill comprises of a 12 bedded Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and an 18 bedded Stroke Unit (SU). We see about 1200 acute stroke patients per year at the DH HASU, and provide a 24/7 thrombolysis and with St George's Hospital run a 24/7 Thrombectomy centre for South East London and Kent on the Denmark Hill site.

- Registerable medical qualification
- Full MRCP or equivalent
Desirable
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)
Registration

- Full Registration with GMC
- Name on GMC Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment
- On the day of interview applicants must be within 6 months of CCT, in final stages of their portfolio pathway application, or be fully registered on the GMC Specialist Register. Any applications not meeting these criteria will not be considered.
Training and Experience
Essential
- Wide experience in all aspects of stroke and successful working at the interface between the specialties of Stroke and other emergency medical and surgical specialties, culminating in award of Certificate of Completion of Training by GMC, or completed portfolio pathway application.
Desirable
- Wide experience in all aspects of Stroke with the award of a CCT in Geriatric or General Medicine or Neurology.
Administration
Essential
- Experience in day-to-day organisation of stroke services in a busy Teaching Hospital
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills
- Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
Management and Leadership
Essential
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
- Sound intellectual skills are required, as evidenced by a professional training base, supplemented by managerial experience.
