Are you a self-motivated individual who is looking to expand your experience as a senior pharmacy technician in a specialist setting?

We have an exciting position for an Advanced Pharmacy Technician working with the Post-Acute Medicine Pharmacy team and Respiratory Medicine Subspecialty. You will work as part of a dynamic and fast paced team delivering a highly complex and efficient pharmacy clinical service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's key roles will be developing advanced clinical technical services and delivering support to the Post-Acute Medicine Team and Respiratory Medicine subspecialty.

This post holder will be part of the multi-disciplinary team and will work alongside the pharmacy team. They will be integral in streamlining medication pathways and delivering education to patients. They will initially develop and deliver clinical pharmacy verification to stable adult cystic fibrosis patients whose medicines are prescribed by pharmacists and delivered via homecare services, with appropriate escalation and referral criteria. They will develop further similar services within the speciality as appropriate. They will also provide ward based medicines management services including medicines reconciliation at admission and discharge, and develop and support novel initiatives to improve medicines reconciliation and experience for our patients upon discharge from the hospital back their home or other care setting.

Acting as an advanced pharmacy technician, the post holder will manage senior medicines management pharmacy technicians and assistants and contribute to their development. They will also develop research and audit skills, seeking to advance pharmacy technician-led research within the department alongside other pharmacy technician leaders.

  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services with underpinning knowledge provided by the BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences OR other recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification meeting requirements for registration with GPhC
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification
  • HEE Educational Supervisor qualification or completion within 12 months of commencing post

Desirable

  • Accreditation in Medicines Management (AIMM) or HEE Medicines Optimisation Programme (MOP) qualification
  • Successful completion of short courses relevant to practice, to include supervisory/management qualification
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or working towards

Experience

  • Significant experience relevant to Hospital Pharmacy Practice with assessed competencies
  • Experience working as a Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience of research and audit work
