Job summary

In 2017 Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support (Macmillan) entered into a strategic partnership to improve cancer patient experience for people receiving care at Kings College Trust. Success of the programme led to the trust cancer investment into key roles and services to sustain improvements and to further drive quality of care. There are number of new cancer posts and services that Kings is invested in different specialities across care groups. The post is a result of collaborative cancer patients improvement programme aimed to provide people with cancer with an excellent experience of care and commitment to support cancer care as the trust top quality priorities. The post holder will play a key role in developing nursing expertise in Urology to improve experience of local population with prostate cancer care. We are looking for an experience Band 7 nurses ready to take new challenge of an autonomous practice of Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist post. For candidates with passion for cancer care, we can offer bespoke training opportunities into the CNS role.

Main duties of the job

Key objectives for the service are to:Fully comply with the trust Cancer CNS Standard Operational Policy as follows; To assist in the delivery of an expert specialist nursing service for people with metastatic prostate cancer. To provide specialist nursing advice, clinical assessment and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis of metastatic prostate and through treatment and where applicable onward referral for end of life care. To ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence based nursing care, assessing health related and holistic needs of patients, their families and other carers by identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective care. Assessing and meeting patients on going care, health and well being needs and develop a care plan and action referrals as a result .Using data to identify high-risk individuals and groups and to ensure that services meet their need.Supporting Self-Care, Self-Management and Enabling Independence.
