Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic Registered Nurse to work in our Eye Services at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup and Orpington Hospital. The service offers a comprehensive service that gives the post holder an opportunity to learn a new and interesting speciality or progress their current ophthalmic role, skills and knowledge.

We are looking for someone who embraces change, while working with the care group to implement new ways of working who always has the patient at the centre of all they do.

You will care for patients attending their eye appointment or procedure, coordinate clinical activity, complete various diagnostic eye tests, assist with ocular procedures and use their holistic knowledge to develop pre-assessment and rapid access assessment skills and much more.

You must demonstrate caring qualities, deliver high quantity care with excellent communication skills, and work well in a multi-professional team so patients are supported and move through the department in a timely and safe manner.

Queen Mary's Eye Department is a 7 day service outpatient service.

Main duties of the job

To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide high quality nursing care to patients and support relatives.To work with support, within a multi-disciplinary team to provide continuing care to a specified group of patients.To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as appropriate.Involve and support patients, relatives, significant other, carers in the care process. Toobtain ophthalmology care group knowledge and skills and maintain own personal development.
